DevOps Data Engineer – Hybrid (Chicago, IL)
Position Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled DevOps Data Engineer to support driving a transformational shift in enterprise data infrastructure. As part of the Product Analytics team, this individual will work on enabling scalable data pipelines, cloud infrastructure automation, and advanced analytics capabilities in a modern AWS-based environment. The ideal candidate is hands-on, collaborative, and able to solve complex technical challenges across cloud-native systems.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain large-scale data pipelines in a distributed, cloud-native environment.
Support and optimize production data infrastructure in AWS using tools such as Glue, Lambda, Airflow, and S3.
Design and automate cloud infrastructure using Terraform modules.
Collaborate with developers and stakeholders to deliver efficient, scalable data solutions.
Lead the design and development of batch and streaming data applications using AWS and Databricks.
Troubleshoot infrastructure and deployment issues and provide guidance on AWS best practices.
Contribute to agile development cycles, working alongside PMs, product owners, and development leads.
Create and manage CI/CD pipelines to ensure seamless delivery of infrastructure and data products.
Support cross-functional initiatives involving internal teams, vendors, and partners.
Required Skills & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Software Engineering, Information Systems, Business Analytics, or related field.
5+ years of experience in data engineering, DevOps, or ETL development roles.
Expertise in AWS cloud services (Redshift, S3, Glue, Lambda, Athena, etc.).
Proficiency in Python, Bash scripting, and PySpark.
Hands-on experience with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code principles.
Familiarity with Databricks and modern data lake architectures.
Experience with SQL, BigQuery, and relational databases.
Strong problem-solving skills and business acumen in handling structured, semi-structured, and unstructured datasets.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Proven ability to manage multiple deliverables in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
AWS Certification (e.g., Solutions Architect)
Experience with Kubernetes, Ansible Playbooks, Blue-Green deployments
Master’s degree in a relevant field
Familiarity with Quantum Metrics, Akamai
Experience in the airline or transportation industry
Background in CI/CD delivery within Agile environments
Proficiency in tools like SSMS, Oracle SQL Developer, Excel, and PowerPoint
Work Schedule & Location
- Work Model: Hybrid
- Onsite Requirement: 3–4 days per week
Location: Chicago
Work Hours: Monday – Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST

Contract Length: 10 months
Employment Type: Contract
Rate Range: $90+ per hour
