Project Overview
We are seeking a Senior UX Designer – Customer UX to join the Core UX team responsible for enhancing and innovating the digital customer experience across all stages of the travel journey. This designer will play a key role in defining and executing user-centered design strategies across web and mobile platforms. The ideal candidate combines creativity, accessibility expertise, and collaboration skills to deliver intuitive and visually engaging experiences that align with business goals and customer needs.
Key Responsibilities
Plan & Concept
Visualize design ideas through sketches, wireframes, and rapid prototypes using professional tools such as Figma.
Identify user needs and business requirements through research, analysis, and workshops.
Contribute ideas for innovation and user experience improvements based on research and industry best practices.
Substantiate design decisions with data, usability insights, and measurable outcomes.
Design & Refine
Ensure consistency across all digital customer touchpoints in alignment with brand and UX standards.
Develop intuitive, accessible, and visually engaging designs for both .com and app experiences.
Create low- and high-fidelity prototypes using a collaborative, iterative approach.
Work closely with usability researchers to design and conduct user testing, translating findings into actionable design refinements.
Define & Communicate
Produce detailed design documentation including user flows, wireframes, storyboards, and high-fidelity mockups.
Present design concepts to UX peers, product teams, and leadership for review and feedback.
Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and respond to design and implementation questions during the development phase.
Mentor junior designers and contribute to overall design system evolution.
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of professional UX design experience (8+ years preferred).
Proficiency in Figma and related design and prototyping tools.
Expertise in User Interface Design, Information Architecture, and Interaction Design.
Strong understanding of accessibility and inclusive design principles.
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively within cross-disciplinary Agile teams.
Solid grasp of web design principles and basic understanding of front-end technologies.
Bachelor’s degree in UX Design, Human-Computer Interaction, or related field (or equivalent experience).
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Master’s degree in UX Design, Human Factors, or a related discipline.
Experience applying WCAG accessibility standards.
Portfolio demonstrating strong UX and visual design work across multiple platforms (required for consideration).
Work Schedule & Details
Location: Chicago, IL or Houston, TX – Hybrid (approximately 1 day per week onsite)
Schedule: 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM CST
Travel: Minimal (as needed for workshops or project sessions; reimbursed)
Contract Details
Hourly Rate: $80/hour
