Position Overview
Our rapidly growing client is seeking an Azure Cloud Engineer to play a critical role in designing, evolving, and securing a modern Azure-based cloud environment. This is a hands-on engineering role that sits at the intersection of cloud infrastructure, platform engineering, and security.
The ideal candidate has supported production Azure environments, has experience with cloud-native technologies (AKS, containers), and is motivated to help modernize infrastructure from traditional virtual machines toward resilient, scalable, and secure cloud platforms. Over time, this role offers the opportunity to grow into technical leadership and people leadership as the team continues to scale.
This position is ideal for an engineer who enjoys building, improving, and owning infrastructure.
Key Responsibilities
Design, implement, and support Azure infrastructure using a mix of cloud-native and traditional services
Build, configure, and support AKS clusters, containerized workloads, and supporting services
Architect and implement disaster recovery and high availability strategies, including multi-region deployments
Support and secure Azure networking components including VNets, private endpoints, NSGs, firewalls, and gateways
Execute cloud security remediation based on platform security findings and best practices
Collaborate with DevOps and product teams to support CI/CD, automation, and platform improvements
Use scripting and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Bicep, ARM, PowerShell) to automate deployments and operations
Monitor infrastructure health, troubleshoot issues, and participate in on-call support rotations
Lead infrastructure initiatives and coordinate work across engineers and partners
Mentor junior engineers and contribute to technical standards and documentation
Required Skills & Qualifications
5+ years of experience in infrastructure, cloud, or systems engineering roles
3+ years of hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure in production environments
Experience supporting or building Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS) or Kubernetes-based platforms
Strong understanding of cloud networking, security fundamentals, and private cloud architectures
Experience working with containerization technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
Hands-on experience with automation and scripting (PowerShell required; Terraform or Bicep preferred)
Familiarity with cloud security concepts, remediation, and best practices
Experience supporting both existing infrastructure and building new cloud solutions
Strong communication skills and the ability to lead technical initiatives collaboratively
Preferred Skills & Experience
Experience designing or supporting multi-region or disaster recovery architectures
Terraform experience (Terraform Cloud not required)
Azure DevOps pipelines or CI/CD experience
Exposure to DevSecOps practices
Experience working in lean teams where engineers wear multiple hats
Prior consulting or mid-sized environment experience (vs. highly siloed enterprise roles)
Azure certifications (Azure Administrator, Azure Solutions Architect)
