Senior Technical Project Manager – Finance AI Initiatives
Location: Chicago, IL (Hybrid – 2 days onsite / 3 days remote)
Position Type: Long-Term Contract (Ongoing)
Pay Rate: $80-90/hr
Position Overview
We are seeking an experienced, executive-ready Senior Technical Project Manager to drive our enterprise Finance AI Initiatives within Corporate Financial Systems.
This role manages active and upcoming artificial intelligence use cases across key financial functions. You will run Agile delivery rhythms, establish robust governance, and build polished, C-suite-ready presentations. This position carries high leadership visibility and requires someone who thrives under scrutiny during active go-lives, translates technical milestones into clear business value, and uses modern AI tools daily to accelerate delivery.
Key Responsibilities

Executive Communication & Storytelling: Build high-impact, visually polished PowerPoint decks independently for senior finance leadership and steering committees. Deliver clear, decision-oriented updates, risk assessments, and resource asks rather than standard status recitations.

Agile Program & Project Delivery: Lead cross-functional sprint cadences, manage backlogs, remove delivery blockers, and align product, data science, engineering, and finance stakeholders.

Portfolio Governance & Financial Tracking: Track budgets, resource allocation, milestone dependencies, RAID logs (risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies), and post-launch outcomes across multiple AI workstreams.

AI Tool Integration: Actively leverage modern AI productivity tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) in daily PM workflows for drafting requirements, synthesizing complex technical data, and streamlining artifact creation.

Go-Live & Transition Readiness: Oversee operational readiness, risk mitigation strategies, and hypercare support during high-visibility system rollouts.
Required Qualifications & Core Competencies

Executive Slide-Building Mastery: Proven ability to synthesize complex, technical AI and finance data into clean, concise, executive-ready PowerPoint decks without external design support.

Agile/Scrum Delivery: 5+ years of experience leading technical delivery teams using Agile/Scrum frameworks (sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming).

Hands-on AI Tool Proficiency: Demonstrated practical experience using generative AI platforms (Claude, ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, etc.) as everyday working accelerators.

High-Stakes Leadership Presence: Exceptional verbal communication and poise under pressure; comfortable facilitating discussions and decision-making among Senior Managers, Directors, and Finance Executives.

End-to-End Governance: Strong track record managing multi-track project financials, scope changes, milestone forecasting, and risk/issue escalations.
Preferred Qualifications (Nice-to-Have)

Certifications: PMP, CSM, PMI-ACP, or SAFe certification.

Finance Domain Expertise: Background supporting corporate finance, accounting, controllership, treasury, or financial systems modernization.

AI Architecture & Governance Literacy: Familiarity with concepts surrounding RPA vs. Agentic AI, human-in-the-loop validation design, shadow-mode testing, and phased rollout gating.

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Information Systems, Computer Science, Finance, or a related field.
