Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable, confident, and detail-oriented Drug Abatement Specialist to conduct federally mandated Department of Transportation (DOT) random drug and alcohol testing at the airport. This role requires a unique blend of regulatory precision and strong interpersonal confidence, as you will be responsible for directly approaching flight crews and airport personnel to initiate unannounced testing.
Key Responsibilities
Conduct Compliance Testing: Perform DOT random drug and alcohol testing throughout the airport, including direct gate notifications and specimen collections.
Flight Crew Notifications: Confidently approach pilots and crew members “out of the blue” to deliver immediate testing notifications with professionalism and authority.
Regulatory Compliance: Self-audit and manage highly confidential regulatory paperwork to ensure 100% compliance with federal standards.
Airport Mobility: Navigate airport terminals and tarmacs efficiently, remaining on your feet and walking long distances throughout the shift.
Qualifications & Requirements
Professional Confidence: Must possess an assertive personality, strong presence, and the communication skills necessary to handle unexpected encounters and potential resistance firmly but professionally.
SIDA Badge Eligibility: Must be able to successfully clear a federal background check to obtain and maintain a Security Identification Display Area (SIDA) badge.
Flexible Schedule: Availability to work non-traditional hours, including potential nights, weekends, and early mornings based on flight schedules.
Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in documentation and adherence to strict legal and medical protocols.
