Position Overview
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join the application recovery team supporting technology command center. This is a 100% onsite, overnight shift role providing operational support through proactive monitoring and incident response across digital platforms, infrastructure, and applications. The ideal candidate will have strong experience with enterprise monitoring tools (especially Dynatrace), Linux/Windows administration, AWS, and the ability to thrive in a 24/7 support environment.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor application performance, system health, and availability for United.com, mobile, and backend systems
Perform real-time system support for Linux, Windows, VMware/HyperV, Middleware, and AWS Cloud environments
Respond to alerts from enterprise tools and IT Service Desk escalations
Participate in incident triage and resolution, engaging with cross-functional teams
Analyze and correlate events from various tools to assess and mitigate impact
Follow ITIL-based processes: incident, change, and problem management
Maintain and enhance system stability through troubleshooting and best practices
Support system administration, application recovery, and performance optimization
Work closely with DevOps, Application Support, Middleware, Networking, and Database teams
Required Skills & Qualifications
1–2 years in an operational support or monitoring role
System administration experience on Linux and Windows platforms
Experience with enterprise monitoring tools: Dynatrace (preferred), AppDynamics, Datadog, LogicMonitor, Big Panda, SCOM
Basic knowledge of AWS, virtualization, and Middleware (WebLogic, WebSphere, DataPower)
Strong communication and documentation skills
Working knowledge of ITSM tools (ServiceNow preferred)
Familiarity with scripting (Shell, Python, etc.) is a plus
ITIL knowledge and ability to follow structured incident/change/problem processes
Ability to manage alerts, multitask, and escalate appropriately
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Experience with cloud monitoring tools and automation scripting
Dynatrace expertise is a major plus
Basic technical knowledge of infrastructure and distributed applications
ServiceNow familiarity
Work Schedule & Location
Location: Arlington Heights, IL – 100% Onsite
Shift: Midnight – 11:00 PM to 7:30 AM CST
Schedule:
First shift begins Wednesday night (11 PM)
Work days: Wednesday through Sunday morning
Off Monday mornings after shift ends at 7:30 AM
Schedule subject to change based on seniority and team shifts

Hourly Rate: $45/hour
Length: 6-month contract with possible extension
Type: W-2 or C2C
