Project Overview
We are seeking a Systems Engineer III to join the Application Recovery Team (ART) within the Digital Technology Command Center. This position is responsible for proactive monitoring and support of enterprise applications, infrastructure, and digital platforms to ensure system performance, availability, and reliability. The role requires strong technical acumen in Linux/Windows administration, enterprise monitoring tools, and AWS environments, as well as the ability to thrive in a fast-paced 24/7 operational setting.
Key Responsibilities
Monitor and support enterprise applications, digital channels, and backend systems to ensure uptime and performance.
Provide day-to-day operational support for distributed systems, including Linux, Windows, Middleware, and Cloud (AWS) environments.
Respond to alerts from enterprise monitoring tools and IT Service Desk escalations.
Identify, assess, and resolve system performance issues and outages quickly and effectively.
Correlate events from multiple monitoring tools to determine impact and prioritize resolution.
Participate in incident triage, root cause analysis, and problem management.
Collaborate with cross-functional teams (DevOps, Application Support, Middleware, Database, Network, and Server Operations).
Follow ITIL-based processes for Incident, Change, and Problem Management.
Document operational procedures, incidents, and resolutions for continuous improvement.
Support application recovery and system administration efforts, ensuring compliance with enterprise standards and security policies.
Required Skills & Qualifications
1–2 years of experience in a system operations or monitoring role.
Proficiency in Linux and Windows system administration.
Hands-on experience with enterprise monitoring tools such as Dynatrace (preferred), AppDynamics, Datadog, LogicMonitor, Big Panda, or SCOM.
Knowledge of AWS, virtualization (VMware, Hyper-V), and Middleware (WebLogic, WebSphere, DataPower).
Understanding of ITIL Service Management practices.
Experience working in high-availability, 24/7 operational environments.
Strong troubleshooting, analytical, and communication skills.
Familiarity with scripting (Shell, Python, etc.) is a plus.
ServiceNow or similar ticketing system experience preferred.
Preferred Skills & Certifications
Dynatrace expertise and cloud monitoring experience.
Familiarity with enterprise-scale .com and mobile application environments.
Experience writing or optimizing system monitoring scripts and automation workflows.
ITIL Foundation certification is a plus.
Work Schedule & Details
Location: Arlington Heights, IL – 100% Onsite
Shift: Midnight (11:00 PM – 7:30 AM CST)
Schedule:
Initial schedule begins Wednesday night through Sunday morning.
Off: Monday morning after 7:30 AM shift completion.
Schedule subject to change based on team seniority and coverage needs.
